The management committee of the main opposition party, PDP in Nigeria, has denied reports that some senior leaders of the party have been bribed.
The committee said that the housing allowance was implemented according to the law, not bribery as suspected.
This was contained in a statement issued by the press secretary of the party, Debo Ologunagba, on Tuesday after the meeting of the executive committee of the party in Abuja, the capital of the country.
Ologunagba said that during the meeting of the committee, he reviewed the article published by a newspaper in the country, saying that the housing allowance paid to the party's top leaders was bribe money.
"After the investigation conducted by the committee in its session, it understood that the money is not a bribe, it is the housing allowance," he said.
Ologunagba said the party has set up a committee and given him one week to look into the matter and submit his report to the party's executive committee for further action.
