In a message sent to the press, the African Union (AU) expressed its disappointment over the military coup in Burkina Faso.
The group warned the military to avoid all activities of abusing civilians and violating human rights. The West African Community (ECOWAS) has also issued similar warnings.
The two groups condemned the military coup and called on the military to hand over power to civilians as soon as possible.
On Friday, the army announced the overthrow of the government of Paul-Henri Damiba for not doing anything to end the activities of jihadists.
Captain ibarhim traore led the overthrow of the government which was also coup d'état and got the country in 2020.
