All the passengers who remained in the hands of their hostages were released after they were abducted in March this year in a train that was on its way to Kaduna from Abuja.
The Nigerian government announced this news in a statement by Professor Usman Yusuf, the secretary of a committee of the Nigerian Ministry of Defense called CDSAC on Wednesday.
"I am happy to inform the country and the world that at about 4 o'clock in the evening, Wednesday, October 5, 2022, a seven-man committee led by the Chief of Staff of the National Defense Forces, General L. E. O. Irabor, succeeded in rescuing the remaining 23 passengers Boko Haram terrorists after they attacked the train traveling from Abuja to Kaduna on March 28, 2022.
The statement added, "This country is full of gratitude to the Nigerian Army under the leadership of the Chief of Army Staff, who led the project from the beginning to the end.
In addition, other security agencies and the Ministry of Transport also helped. tell about the success we have had in this project."
However, until now there are no reports of where the released passengers were taken, or how they were rescued from the hands of Boko Haram who held them hostage for more than six months.
